Young European Leaders youth club

BackgroundSlideYEL

In August 2015 our school, together with five of our European partner schools, was given a grant to establish YEL clubs at each school.

Participating countries:

Gymnasium bilingvalne, Zilina (Slovakia)

Wittekind-Gymnasium, Lübbecke (Deutschland)

Cygnaeus-lukio, Jyväskylä ( Finnland)

Institution Saint-Jude, Armentières (France)

Instituto de Educacion Secundaria Miguel Catalàn, Zaragoza (Spain)

Lycée Michel-Rodange Luxembourg

Members of these youth clubs get the opportunity to gain skills for their personal and their professional career. They get the chance

  • to improve their communication and argumentation skills via debating activities
  • to develop practical organizational and cooperation skills as projects will be developed and be run by the students themselves, only being supervised and supported by a teacher
  • to play a more active role in society by cooperating with local authorities
  • to get and stay in touch with young people all over Europe

Scheduled international activities:

Communication via etwin space (etwinning) in English

  • Bilateral youth club exchange with Cygnaeus-lukio, Jyväskylä ( Finnland) in January and May 2016 (all YEL members)
  • Participation in the Model United Nations Conference ZAMUN in Zilina ( Slovakia) in April 2016 (4 students, 2 teachers being financed by the programme)
  • Sending two students on a two-months study visit to our youth clubs at Instituto de Educacion Secundaria Miguel Catalàn, Zaragoza (Spain) and Gymnasium bilingvalne, Zilina (Slovakia) in term 2 in 2016 (being financed by the project)
  • Hosting two students on a two-months study visit at our YEL club from Instituto de Educacion Secundaria Miguel Catalàn, Zaragoza (Spain) and from Gymnasium bilingvalne, Zilina (Slovakia) in term 2/3 in 2016 (being financed by the project)

Teachers in charge: Sandra Galli (youth club meetings), Sandra Droste (project management)
